Pregnancy makes women forget
Researchers at the Australian Catholic University in Melbourne have discovered some interesting stuff about pregnant women. The pregnancy is resulting in considerable amounts of amnesia. Scientists Henry and Peter Randell have tested the memories of thousands, both pregnant and non pregnant, women. The women carrying a baby appeared to have trouble remembering new information, unknown names and telephone numbers. Facts they had already known, however, they remembered without a problem.
Strangely enough, the memories of the tested women did not appear to return to the old levels after the labour. The researchers are still clueless to as why this is the case. But they do expect that a pregnancy can influence the women’s cognitive skills a great deal. They also suspect stress, insomnia and the preparation to a new life to be factors.
