Couple gets married during own funeral

In Belgium a young couple was married during their own funeral. They had both lost their lives when their helicopter crashed. If it had not been for this tragic accident they were to be married later this year. The 24-year-old couple had been together 7 years and they originally planned to travel home by train. The helicopter was piloted by the father of the groom. A mother and sister were also aboard the helicopter when it crashed. Witnesses declared that the helicopter was probably brought down by technical failures.

Priest Marc Messien honored the couple by placing a white ribbon across both coffins. This way a symbolic marriage was established. “The marriage might not be official, but this way we acknowledged the couple’s love for each other." the priest later said. Music was played by the band originally scheduled to perform at the wedding.

Israeli football player ’scores’ during halftime

Although Israel lost the World Cup qualifying match versus Sweden in 1993 with 5-0, an Israeli player managed to score during the game. His name: Felix Halfon. “ We were already trailing Sweden 2-0 during halftime and Felix didn’t feel like listening to the coach’s pep talk. So he remained in the player tunnel and gave special attention to a Swedish woman “, says Shaul Eisenberg, former spokesperson of the Israeli Soccer Federation.

Eisenberg recently finished his memoirs in a book and the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet featured the Halfon story. The player himself reacts rather indifferent: “ It wasn’t that special. By the way, I always carried a condom with me during matches. I put them in one of my socks.” What a visionary man Halfon is.
