Star football player Cristiano Ronaldo might just hold the record for sending the most expensive sms text message ever.

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been fined 8,000 pounds by club boss Sir Alex Ferguson  for constantly sending text messages during training.

The football player was caught sending messages four times during a single training session and coach Ferguson was not impressed, an unknown Manchester United source has revealed.

“The players all respect Sir Alex’s discipline. He is not a man to be messed with,” The Sun quoted the source, as saying.

“ Sir Alex Ferguson and his assistants have been cracking down on it big time recently. They insist that mobiles stay in lockers and should not be used until training is finished.” Sir Alex, 66, has been tightening the screw on players not completely focused during the club’s midweek preparation. And that includes hitting them with on-the-spot 2,000 pound penalties for every offence.

 jail cell

Ansar Burney, Pakistan’s Human Rights Minister, announced that he has discovered an Indian spy, who is jailed in Pakistan for over 35 years. Apparently they had forgotten all about him. Kashmir Singh was arrested for espionage in 1973 and received the dead penalty for his actions. The penalty was never carried out. Since then Singh, a father of three, has been locked up in his ‘death row’ cell for at least 23.5 hours a day. All this time he did not even get one visitor, but he was allowed to stretch his legs 30 minutes a day.

The Pakistani Minister told that he was able to track down the unfortunate man after being tipped off by the Indian community in London. President Musharraf has expressed his ’shock and disbelief’ after he found out about the situation. He also told that mister Singh will be released from jail very soon.

At this moment mister Kashmir Singh is said to be ‘mentally ill’ and effort are being made to track down his family in India.

Since Pakistan and India became independent countries in 1947 they have fought three wars together. Careful peace negotiations were started in 2004. Recently they even carried out a prisoner swap. The prisoners were mostly fishermen, who had strayed into ‘enemy’ territorial waters and were detained.

In Singapore the biggest Ferris Wheel in the world was opened for the first time this Monday, when special guests took it for a spin. The observation wheel is Singapore’s newest tourist attraction. Named the Singapore Flyer, the giant wheel measures 165 meters in height. An impressive 30 meters taller then the London Eye, its main rival. The Singapore flyer thus officially knocked the London Eye of the first spot as tallest Ferris wheel in the world.

A total of 28 passenger gondolas are attached to the wheel, each the size of a regular city bus. Each gondola provides enough space for 28 people to walk freely. After reaching the highest point, tourist can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city-state. It is said, that, during clear weather, the distant shores of Indonesia and Malaysia can be seen.

The oldest athlete in the Peking Olympic Games ?

February 09, 2008 By: Bolkie Category: funny, record, sports, weird No Comments →

A 67-year-old Japanese man is planning to compete in the Olympic Games in Peking next summer. Hiroshi Hoketsu, a horse rider who will turn 67 next month, is already a former competing athlete. But his last participation dates back to the 1964 Olympic Games, which were held in Tokyo. Should he compete, Hoketsu will be the oldest Japanese athlete to participate in the Olympics ever.

Unfortunately for mister Hoketsu he will not be the oldest athlete to have participated in the Olympic Games. In order to obtain that record he must also take part in the next Olympics, which will be held in 2012 in London. The record of oldest athlete is currently held by Oscar Swahn from Sweden. Swahn was 72 years of age when he took part in the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp.
