The Finnish Ski Jumpers Association, or whatever you call it, has suspended a ski jumper named Harri Olli for the rest of the sporting year.

The 22-year-old athlete failed to show up an an official party organized by the skiing federation. But what he did not fail to do  was getting wasted that same night. Supposedly he also bored two sports journalists to death with a story about him having sex with two women at the same time ! What a player !

According to the vice president of the Finnish Ski Jumping Federation, or whatever you call it, an athlete has to be on his best behavior at all times. Even when not on the ski slope. This is why he is suspended for such a long time.

Our player, Olli, was a part of the Finnish team that won the silver medal at the last Ski Jumping World Cup.

I think he should get a medal for being a cool drunk !

In Lodz, the second biggest city in Poland, streetracing is now somewhat allowed at night. The police will cordon off some areas so the speed junkies can go their merry way.  This plan is intended to lower the number of fatal car crashes in the rest of the city, because the youngsters will race in a controlled area.

The police had to come up with some plan while illegal streetracing caused havoc throughout the city every night.

“We made an agreement with the organizers of the illegal streetraces, ” tells the leader of one of the official motor clubs in Lodz, “Now they race in closed off streets, while the cops can keep an eye on them. In exchange for this privilege they promised to stop speeding on other public roads in the city.

The Polish press rejects the plans. They say the government should not give in to the demands of ’street racing scum’. 

The chances for newly independent country Kosovo to compete in the coming summer Olympic Games in China are very slim. At least according to the International Olympic Committee.  For this to happen the United Nations needs to actually recognize Kosovo as a country first. 

” We need to wait and see what the United Nations decides. Participation in Peking is very unlikely because there is little time make the necessary steps, ” says IOC spokeswoman Emannuelle Moreau. 

At least five athletes from Kosovo are hoping for a ticket to the Games. They are all boxers.

There is a possibility though that before the IOC convenes the athletes might be allowed to compete as independent athletes under the Olympic flag. This has happened before when other athletes from former Yugoslavia and East Timor took this chance to perform at this very high level.

Pulling WoW gamers from their PC’s, isn’t that a huge mistake?

Blizzard thinks its time for World of Warcraft players to get out of the virtual world, move to another place and get right back in the virtual world. Last week Blizzard announced it will be organizing worldwide e-sports tournaments for their followers. Players will be killing their opponent in arena environments. 

Planning to host various playstyles Blizzard will first organize 3-versus-3 tournaments in arena style. Separate servers will be set up where players will receive a level 70 character with kickass gear. This way skill will be more important then gear.

The tournaments will start with preliminary rounds in April this year. To compete players will have to move their asses IRL to locations in Europe, North America, South Korea, Taiwan and Macao.

Blizzard also announced the winner of the world finals will be awarded 75.000 dollars. Sweet.

  Two children have died and five other people are seriously ill after eating a cake poisoned with thallium delivered to a soccer club in Baghdad.

The cake was delivered to the Air Force soccer club on February 2 by a coach who had left on bad terms and then recently returned, said the club president, Samir Kadham.

The club’s general secretary, Mohammed Rasool, and its chief administrator, Sattar Ibrahim, took some of the cake home and their families ate it, Mr Kadham said. By the next day, seven members of the two families were ill.

Two of Mr Ibrahim’s sons died, a 14-year-old and an 18-month-old. The other five were taken to hospital in Amman, where they were diagnosed as suffering thallium poisoning and are gravely ill.

Police said the coach who delivered the cake to the club had been arrested.
